Bosch dishwasher repair – easy ways to save money

Bosch dishwasher repair is usually a job best left to the pros. However, before calling an expert, you may determine whether there’s a simple cure for your dishwasher not draining or filling with water.

These are relatively common problems that occur with this type of appliance. We’ve looked into problems with Bosch dishwashers and decided to share information on how they can be fixed:

If your Bosch dishwasher isn’t draining properly

A Bosch dishwasher that won’t drain is a very common problem. But it’s also one that’s almost always simple to correct on your own. The following are the basic troubleshooting steps:

1) Make sure the filter is clean

This is usually the source of the issue, and it should always be the first item you look into. Food particles and other debris may have clogged the easy-to-see filter in the machine’s bottom. Clear it out, wash it in the sink, and see whether the issue still exists.

2) Check the drain pump

If removing the filter didn’t completely remove the water from the dishwasher, you’ll have to go deeper into troubleshooting. You’ll need to drain the water – or use a wet vac if you have one – to inspect the drain pump at the bottom.

Here’s how:

  1. Ensure that your machine is turned off and unplugged from the power source.
  2. Remove the drain pump lid, which is normally secured by a single screw on most Bosch dishwashers.
  3. The blades of the drain pump should now be visible. Make sure there’s no debris in this area once more. Remove whatever you notice, even if it appears to be too small to be the source of the issue.
  4. Return everything to its original location.

3) Make sure the dishwasher’s waste pipe is free of obstructions

Grease, grease and other compounds that can pass through both of the aforementioned elements can sometimes be found in parts of the mechanism that you wouldn’t expect. Here’s a method to make sure that’s not the case:

  1. To dislodge any sediments, squeeze the waste pipe all the way down.
  2. Set your dishwasher’s temperature to the maximum setting and run a cycle.

4) Enlist the help of a professional

If none of these suggestions seem to be working to keep your Bosch dishwasher from draining, it’s time to call in a pro. You’ll probably need to replace your drain pump. In most cases, repairing something isn’t too expensive. You are unlikely to want to do it yourself, though.

The water in your dishwasher isn’t filling up

On the other hand, you may discover that your Bosch dishwasher will not fill with water.

If this is the case, there are a few basic things you can look into:

  1. Check the power: It may seem simple, but make sure your machine is properly plugged in and that your power hasn’t been tripped while you were gone.
  2. Check to see whether a cycle was interrupted: if your Bosch dishwasher “thinks” it’s still in the middle of a cycle, it won’t fill. Depending on your model, you can either restart by holding down the start button for more than three seconds. You can also press the cancel or reset buttons to return to the previous screen.
  3. Check the water supply: open the cupboard under your sink and make sure the water supply is turned to the “on” position and that the hose is not twisted. If you need to remove the water hose to fix this, remember to turn off the water first!
  4. Check the hose filter: If the methods above don’t seem to be working, disconnect your water supply hose and look for the hose filter, which may be near the end. Many versions of the machine have these installed to keep silt from your water supply from getting into the device’s internal workings.
  5. Check your water pressure: a good rule of thumb is that you should be able to turn on a tap in your home and fill a gallon container in less than thirty seconds. It’s a rather straightforward test — provided, of course, that you can find a container that fits the bill!
  6. Check your water inlet valve: this step is a little more technical than the others, so it’s best saved for last.
    • Make sure your power supply is completely turned off and disconnected.
    • Look inside your dishwasher behind the kick panel at the front. You should be able to see the inlet valve for the water.
    • It should only take a handful of screws to remove the kick panel.
    • Remove the front door panel, which can also be found within the dishwasher.
    • The water intake valve should now be accessible.
    • Make that the two wires connecting the valve are securely fastened.
    • Check the valve for visible damage or leaks.
