The service boxes are situated on either side of the center line, which splits the court in half. The back line of the court, or the baseline, is 60 feet from the back fence.

Net height

It is the height of the net above the ground in relation to the net height. The net height must be a minimum of 3.5 feet (1.07 meters) at the center and a maximum of 6 feet (1.83 meters) at the side posts.

The Rules

The objective is to throw the ball over the net and into the opponent’s court. The player who hits the ball into the other player’s court must then wait for the other player to hit the ball back.

If the ball hits the ground in the other player’s court, then the first player gets a point. If the ball hits the ground in the first player’s court, then the other player gets a point. The first player to score four points wins the game.

Pickleball Court

The game is similar to tennis, but the court is smaller and there are only two players on each side. Here are some things that differentiate a pickleball court from a tennis court.

Size

Pickleball court size is based on the size of the playing area. The playing area is the space within the court boundaries including the space between the doubles sidelines and the service line.

The playing area of a pickleball court is 20 feet by 44 feet.

Net height

It is the same as a tennis net height, which is 3 feet 6 inches high at the center of the net. The pickleball net is hung on metal or PVC pipes that are placed in the ground.

It is also adjusted by using different types of clamps that attach to the metal or PVC pipes.

The Rules

Make the ball bounce on your opponent’s side of the court, and don’t let the ball bounce twice on your own side. The game is played with a paddle and a small, perforated plastic ball.

The paddle must have a rounded handle and construct of wood, composite material, or graphite. It’s divided in half by a net and resembles a badminton court.
